This is an arrangement that I did for Coconut Grove, an old number that dates back to the 1920s but has become a steel guitar classic. My arrangement was influenced by the arrangements of Jerry Byrd and Buddy Charleton, and my solo was inspired by Curly Chalker. This is the entire transcription of my arrangement, including the solo.
This arrangement is for C6/A7 tuning and can be played on a 6, 7 or 8 string guitar (there is one chord that uses the 7th string). I think you’ll find that there is some nice, rich harmony here and a few cool licks, too.
